I currently have 2214 words so far and nothing has happened. I think I am doing the worst, and the problem is that I just don’t care if I finish by the arbitrary date or not and I don’t like my book.
Winky suggested I just start a new one, but then I’d have to come up with a different plot line. Nah.
I got the toolman to get into Nano too, although he’s doing his own rogue version.
He makes fun of me and has no faith in my ability to accomplish.
I want to prove him wrong, but let’s be honest…I have a lot of work ahead of me and not a lot of time.
The toolman said he wouldn’t make fun of me if I got at least 25,000 words by the end of the month, so that is my first goal: get at least 25,000 words.
Winky, the toolman, and I went to “Stranger than Fiction” tonight, which was a bit of a motivator. Lets see what develops…
I will get past 10,000 words today. I’m crazy excited. Of course, I should be at 15,000, but it’s still awesome. Yesterday I must have wrote over 1000 words on the train to visit a friend because once I typed them up I had a lot more than I thought. Jeffrey has been poisioned, but he’s okay. He’ll leave for Argentina in a few days to put down a rebellion and then I’ll have to think of something else for him to do.
His name is really Hjalmar Fjalarsson but he identifies himself as Jeffrey. He is the ruler of the world. This world in 10 years. At fifteen he ran away from home in Connecticut and went back to Iceland where his parents had emigrated from. He has slowly been working on taking over the world and he has finally achieved it. What now? He’s put everything into this and just realized that he has no life, really at all.
I’m doing okay with word count. I’m behind but I’m hoping to catch up by the weekend. I have a few hours on the bus when I go to Mpls, assuming the laptop will last long enough. I have discovered that writing at home or work does not work very well. Too many distractions. I wrote 2000 words in 3 hours yesterday at the library and then Panera. It was awesome. I may try to go to the library for an hour or two today as well. I would like to break 10,000 today and if I write as much as yesterday it’s totally possible. I also added a new character, Amanda Celeste as a love interest since my main character really needs to get a life.
How are you?
I’ve just realized that the blog is not working right in IE. Not sure why, but my regular blog is, so it must be the newer version. I’ll be working on that, so it might flicker a little.
In other news, welcome to E! She is a NaNoWriMo veteran, and won last year, so she’s our hero, and really how we found out about it.
I went the library and got out No Plot! No Problem! by the guy who started NaNoWriMo. I really liked it, but I’m glad I didn’t buy it. I’ll try to keep it out until the end so I can use all the tips, but I can’t see myself using it after that, even next year. I still don’t have a plot, but I have a character. I think her name is Anne. That’s all I know about her so far. We’ll see what develops.
I’ve been haunting the NaNoWriMo site in the last few days and reading all the posts that interest me. Really, the only ones I’ve responded to are the regional ones. There’s a group that might meet for lunch near me; that should be fun.
Write On!

Here’s my first NaNoWriMo post, to get the ball rolling.
E - give us some pointers in how you tackle this beast!
I’ve already given my book some thought, and do not like what I have come up with. The old me would have scrapped the idea, but I think I’ll suffer through it, even if I don’t like the end product.
That’s the whole point for me - to not abort, especially before I’ve even gotten started.
This blog is to document the struggles and triumphs of Aura, E, Neleh and Calico as they make their way through National Novel Writing Month(NaNoWriMo).
