A National Novel Writing Month Blog

I’ve just realized that the blog is not working right in IE. Not sure why, but my regular blog is, so it must be the newer version. I’ll be working on that, so it might flicker a little.

In other news, welcome to E! She is a NaNoWriMo veteran, and won last year, so she’s our hero, and really how we found out about it.

I went the library and got out No Plot! No Problem! by the guy who started NaNoWriMo. I really liked it, but I’m glad I didn’t buy it. I’ll try to keep it out until the end so I can use all the tips, but I can’t see myself using it after that, even next year. I still don’t have a plot, but I have a character. I think her name is Anne. That’s all I know about her so far. We’ll see what develops.

I’ve been haunting the NaNoWriMo site in the last few days and reading all the posts that interest me. Really, the only ones I’ve responded to are the regional ones. There’s a group that might meet for lunch near me; that should be fun.

Mwah… I am so ultra-heroic dude. The other weekend some friends picked up some red galoshes for me (it was muddy out and we were camping/partying) and I had a big red cape with me… I now need to run around in the galoshes and cape with some sort of super-hero undies on… but thats for another day.

Oh yeah, NaNo. So now I’m a little nervous. I won last year and it is really totally doable with a lot of little tricks and I did have guests for 10 days of the month, work and various social events… but this time I have a brand new job (that should have two people working it and I want to make a good impression)and more of a social life and will be moving into a new apartment and am supposed to help out with a big party-thing at the begining of the month…

but when I really think about it I know its still totally do-able… esp. as wherever I live I’ll have commute time to write in, lunch time to write during and all those moments where I’m waiting for someone or something and of course sneaking off for a couple hours here and there to coffee shops and drinking tea (I fell back into coffee last year… eek so bad for my tummy, waist-line and wallet all at once, can not do that again).

I just bought a new pda for myself off ebay, just a cheap replacement of my old one so it was uber cheap and really for me using my pda with the folding keyboard and a thumbpad made so much difference ’cause I could click it on at any moment and type up a paragraph or two to load into my computer later… a laptop would work but takes longer to boot on and off. Typing with the thumpad is kinda slow but faster than writing and then retyping and with the keyboard I occasionally have to stop typing so it can catch up to me but that gave me a moment to think anyhow…

I like the NaNo site, a lot of people there are really young and ditzy but the people at the meetings where mostly my age and older and some interesting stuff comes up on the site.

During NaNo we should do some wordwars and such… like sometime when we are all online and working on our nanovels just IM to write the most in however many minutes or include whatever odd word in your novel in the next half hour and share that… whatever.

Yeah, exactly what I thought about that book, def not worth buying but kinda nice to look at for a bit of motivation… and nice to look at and see that 50000 words is no epic.
